The Man She Couldn’t Refuse: Chapter 6

Becca: Actually, Greek men r thin on the ground in this tourist Mecca…

George: U’re not going 2 fall for the first fellow Australian u find, r u?

At the loud salsa music Becca plucked her phone from its snug position in her bikini bottoms, chuckling as Levi’s brows lifted. Then she read the texts and failed to hold back her groan.

“Problem?”

She shook her head and quickly sent a reply. “Just another Wolfe adding his tuppence. My cousin,” she explained as his brows lifted higher. “They all keep texting me with suggestions on things to eat and places to stay and sights to see while I’m here.” “That’s bad?”

“Only because the three of them text me every damn day.”

So what if the Wolfe guides were the most popular travel books in the world? Her three devastating cousins didn’t get that she wanted to discover the world on her own. Hell, they’d had the chance to—and she knew the three of them had all had more than their share of fun, not surprising seeing they all looked like Greek gods—but they couldn’t let little Becca do her thing alone.

Typical males—overprotective of any young female relative because they understood exactly the nefarious ways virile men thought.

She glanced at Levi. He wasn’t looking in the least protective. More predatory.

Good.

“I’m done.” Four minutes later, and with a wink, Becca swapped her soda pistol pack for the small bag containing her essential documents that she’d left with the bouncer of the bar who’d been sponsoring the promo. Then she turned to Levi.

“You don’t need to get changed?” he asked, giving her outfit a once-over.

Anticipation curled her toes. “No,” she said blithely. “We’re just going for a drink, right? A little catch-up of fellow country folk.”

“Oh, sure,” he drawled. “My pick of the place, though, agreed? Seeing as I’m only in town the one night.”

Becca met his gaze. One night. Good to know. Good all round.

But she hesitated. She wasn’t going to lie down and acquiesce to anything he suggested. She was new, assertive, travels-alone Becca. If this was one night, then she was calling the shots. “Okay, but my choice of snacks.”

“Done.”

“Where are you going tomorrow?” she asked as they walked along the busy street.

“Not sure,” he answered easily. “Wherever the wind takes the boat, I guess.”

“You’re sailing?” A kick of envy hit her—to be travelling luxe style instead of hand to mouth? “Nice.”

“Yup. You okay to go on this?” He’d stopped beside a vintage Vesper and arched a brow at her.

“A motorbike?” She laughed. “You’re checking all the cliché boxes? The idyllic Greek holiday—cruising round the islands, riding on a bike—”

“With a pretty girl riding pillion,” he nodded. “Eating and drinking and…”

“Being flash.”

He didn’t smile. “You begrudge me a holiday?”

“Not at all.” Back then he’d worked every hour there was. Anyone who worked that hard deserved success and some R&R.

“So ride with me, then.”

She put her hands on her hips. “You get to drive?”

His eyes narrowed, knowingly. “I’d be more than happy for you to if you’d like, but the insurance…”

“Of course,” she agreed. “How fortunate you have a spare helmet.” She took it from him.

“It’s my lucky day.” He winked, strapping on his and swinging a leg astride the machine.

Actually it was her lucky day. What woman wouldn’t want to wrap her arms around Levi Everton’s waist? She was taking the opportunity to cling. Just for a few minutes.

The wind was slightly cool on her overexposed skin but inside she was bubbling up to boiling. He was big, lean and hard. She had to lock her fingers together to stop herself feeling her way over his taut abs and broad chest.

Maybe Man Ban actually meant Boyfriend Ban. One night of flirting mightn’t be out of bounds… or something more. Not if it were for just one night.

Her system pushed past boiling and into inferno territory.

“Where are we going?” She shouted ten minutes later. They’d been on the road way longer than she’d expected. They’d gone right out of town.

But he didn’t answer. She didn’t really care. She’d seen him almost every day for the best part of a year and he’d been the most attractive guy she’d laid eyes on. Because he was unattainable, right? Older, wilder, forbidden.

He wasn’t forbidden now.

The Man She Couldn't Refuse

Becca Wolfe is on a mission to put herself first for once–and that means no men.

Working as a promo girl on a Greek Island, she’s dressed to thrill, carrying a pistol full of caffeine-laced soda (did she mention the secret libido-boosting ingredient?) and ready for the holiday of a lifetime-with no distractions!

But Levi Everton–blast from the past and top of Becca’s ‘Most Wanted’ list–is distraction personified.

A lot has changed in ten years, but Levi is tempting as ever. And he’s about to show Becca that life is much more exciting when you give in to temptation…!
